Networking group on target to pass over three-quarters of a million pounds in business in 2011
Solihull based business networking group BNI Phoenix has released figures revealing that it has generated over £514,000 worth of business between members this calendar year to date.
With 40 members from all business sectors, the group, meets on Friday mornings in Dorridge, although members attend from across the West Midlands (Sutton Coldfield, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Pershore and Dudley).
With 1,418 referrals so far in 2011, BNI Phoenix is on target to reach £750,000 by the end of the year.
Since 2006, members have been meeting over breakfast with the main aim of referring business to each other. Each and every week an average of £15,000 of business is passed between members, with some deals being significantly larger.
Chairman of BNI Phoenix, Qasim Majid comments: “Our main aim for the meeting is to gain business for each other. As we limit our group in terms of size and ensure that no competing businesses attend, we get to know each other really well. We encourage our members to meet outside our Friday morning sessions on an individual basis and as part of our Power Circles, where groups of complementary businesses explore how they can generate new leads. We are a tight knit business community that is always looking out for opportunities for each other. We do believe that what goes around comes around.”
In addition to regular members, the group also accepts guests, who may benefit from gaining business. BNI Phoenix member Judith Fine, who runs Virtual PA comments: "I met Tracy Beer from Passport Travel at BNI when she attended as a guest and we have stayed in touch. One of my clients had a request for a complicated business travel itinerary and I immediately thought of Tracy who would get a better deal than I could. Tracy’s attendance as a guest at a BNI Phoenix meeting, has resulted in a referral worth thousands and a strong possibility of return business for Passport Travel".
Visitors also use BNI Phoenix members as a source of reliable and professional suppliers – Marcus Lynock of UK BPS had a number of vacancies for specialist security staff when he visited the group, BNI Phoenix member Richard Hales of recruitment firm Charles Peters took the time to understand UK BPS’ specialist requirements and was able to help fill the vacancies, placing seven members of staff with UK BPS in one month.
But it’s not all business, Sutton Coldfield member Mo Harford recently asked members of BNI Phoenix to bring in old bras in support of a record breaking attempt to create the longest bra chain - yes that’s right, bra chain - in the world.

About BNI Phoenix
The Phoenix BNI Chapter was established in April 2006, and has now become one of the most influential Chapters in the West Midlands. The group meets for breakfast on Friday mornings from 6.30 am at Hogarth’s Hotel.
We operate on the basis of Quality – not Quantity – and that basic approach applies to both the members of the Chapter, and also the quality of referrals passed each week.
Each of our Chapter members operates as part of the “Phoenix Business”, and as such work diligently as part of the sales force developing the business successes of their fellow members.
This relationship is built on trust in fellow Chapter members, and an understanding of each other’s' business objectives.
