Agilisys Cloud Services Signs Managed IaaS Contract With PDX

Multi-national process technology firm standardises and streamlines IT with Agilisys Cloud Services

London, 24 November 2011. Multi-national process technology company PDX, has awarded Agilisys Cloud Services a three-year contract to provide a fully managed IaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service) worth approximately £1 million. The service will standardise and streamline PDX's IT infrastructure in an end-to-end managed service covering: hosting, storage, provision of Microsoft technologies, backup and desktop support.

Mercia Fund Management Presents Mercia EIS Growth Fund At VCT And EIS Investor Forum

Mercia Fund Management (MFM) will be presenting the Mercia Growth EIS Fund for tax efficient investment in its existing and future technology portfolio, which spans medical technology, clean technology, electronics, telecoms and software, at the VCT and EIS Investor Forum 2011 on 23 November 2011.

Hundreds of private investors are expected at the event, which will take place in London. Dr Mark Payton, Managing Director of MFM, will be participating in a panel session on “Identifying the differences and benefits between planned exit, generalist and specialist fund models” at 10.30 am and will also present the Mercia EIS Growth Fund at 2.40 pm.

Institute Of Consulting Urges Consultants To Focus On Innovation To Ride Out Recession

Report into innovation in consulting finds that consultancies need new ways to innovate as pressure on margins and fees increases

A new report published by The Institute of Consulting and undertaken by the Advanced Institute of Management, entitled ‘Management Innovation in Consulting’, reveals that innovation in UK consultancy firms is at risk of being stifled by a number of challenges including a lack of time for generating new ideas, pressures to focus more on client billing than on innovation, reduced training and development for consultants and lower profit margins.

Just one in five consultancies admitted they had a formal process in place to develop innovative services, and there is concern in the industry that clients are too risk averse with 83% reporting that procurement processes hamper the sale of innovative consulting services.

Self-service commodity-based IaaS services can be difficult for companies to manage as well as thoroughly understand and Agilisys has responded by developing a managed IaaS service that reduces production complexity and increases reliability.

BNI Phoenix Network Drums Up Over Half A Million Pounds Of Business Between Members

Networking group on target to pass over three-quarters of a million pounds in business in 2011

Solihull based business networking group BNI Phoenix has released figures revealing that it has generated over £514,000 worth of business between members this calendar year to date.

With 40 members from all business sectors, the group, meets on Friday mornings in Dorridge, although members attend from across the West Midlands (Sutton Coldfield, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Pershore and Dudley).

Evida To Showcase Battery Power Systems For Ev Applications At LCV2011

Evida Power, Ltd., a leading designer and manufacturer of lithium-ion battery packs for electric vehicles (EVs), will be showcasing its power and management solutions for the EV market at LCV2011, the UK’s annual low carbon vehicle event. Hosted by Cenex, LCV2011 takes place at the Rockingham Race Circuit in Northamptonshire on 7th and 8th September.

Evida will be displaying its custom-designed lithium-iron phosphate battery pack within a production-specification Mia Electric Microbus vehicle on stand F3 within the internal exhibition area. The model, which is due to go on sale in Europe later this month, is the first EV to receive Evida’s fully homologated and tailored 8 kWh energy system as part of a $250 million,  5-year deal  with the Franco-German automaker.
