Open Source Support Center launches
U.S. headquarters
Europe's largest independent open
source service and support company, credativ, is
expanding its Open Source Support Center to the U.S.
market to satisfy the rapidly growing need for expert
assistance with open source technologies
Sept 9 2009
San Diego, California, September 9,
2009 -- credativ, Europe's largest independent open
source service and support company, announced today that
it has expanded operations to the U.S., where it will
offer comprehensive services provided by its
Open Source Support
Center to enterprise, small and medium business (SMB),
and government sectors.
The company named Joseph E. Conway as President/CEO
of credativ LLC. Mr. Conway will use his 20+ years of
experience managing and delivering successful projects,
many based on open source technologies, to quickly build
up robust U.S. operations.
The credativ, LLC Open Source Support Center provides
expert/developer level service and support for all major
open source distributions and applications. Examples of
supported distributions and software include: Red Hat,
Debian, and Ubuntu Linux distributions; PostgreSQL and
MySQL databases; Nagios and OpenERP applications.
credativ also supports numerous other distributions and
applications built on open source technologies.
Mr. Conway said of the move to the U.S:
"Open source adoption is accelerating in the U.S., and
credativ LLC is introducing an important new concept to
satisfy the resulting support void. We are one of the
first companies to provide a critical piece of the
infrastructure for mixed open source technology stacks –
comprehensive, developer-level service and support for
all major distributions and applications under one roof.
We are an independent one-stop shop, and our aim is to
help customers to save time and resources by focusing on
solving their problems regardless of which open source
technology best meets their requirements."
Michael Meskes, founder and CEO of
parent credativ GmbH remarked: "Businesses and
government agencies in the U.S. face the same open
source challenges as their European counterparts in
terms of selecting and implementing multiple open source
technologies and finding high quality service and
support from one provider. We are already enabling
customers across Europe to gain significant benefit from
open source. Now U.S organizations can rely on us as
well."

In spite of the global economic downturn, credativ has
experienced significant growth in both the UK and Germany. The company already
provides many large organisations using Debian or Linux distributions based on
Debian with support and consultancy through its Open Source Support Centre and
this is a prominent factor in its success. In fact, the firm has enjoyed its
best financial year since its 1999 foundation, as well as experiencing more than
20% growth in turnover during the two previous years.
" Our success is down to
the quality and in depth knowledge of open source for business and we believe
that it is also a testament to the increasing number of organisations that are
adopting open source for their IT infrastructure."
