PR internship - our first experience

Sonia recently finished a work experience placement with us. You're probably thinking so what? Well it was a first for us. We are a group of senior PRs so don't really have time to train anyone, but Sonia's CV was good and came at a time where we thought we'd try it out and maybe give a young person a break.
She's done the normal PR work experience activity like updating databases, getting coverage in, researching and some basic writing of fact sheets. We gave her a basic intro to pitching and she listened in on client calls and shadowed me as I wrote reports and went about my daily business.
She was here for a week and hopefully we've given her an idea of what it's like to work for a tech PR agency as well as a basic grounding in social media for business.
While we don't have a formal work experience programme, we would consider taking one or two students a year for short work experience placements if you want to see if PR is for you, especially tech PR. Sonia worked at our office but as most of our team is home based, remote work experience is also possible.
